Matthew Woodthorpe



Matthew graduated from Sheffield University in 1997 with a commendation in design and architectural theory, and later completed his Masters degree with a thesis on 'the urban environment and energy systems'.

Before setting up MWAI with Alessia Mosci in 2009, Matthew was Associate Director at Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands where he developed a specialism in low energy sustainable housing and was instrumental in delivering both bespoke interior projects and a series of Government-led, high profile urban regeneration, research and master plan projects.  Matthew won the 2004 RIBA Award, Housing Design Award 2007, HBF Innovation in Design Award 2007 and Taylor Wimpey Best Bespoke Project in 2007.

MWAI is a London based architectural and interior design practice working in the UK and overseas with extensive experience within residential, mixed-use and public sectors. The practice is passionate about the delivery of high quality sustainable places for people to experience and live in.
