Linda Thiel

Linda Thiel is a London-based Swedish architect with 20 years’ experience in architecture and urban design, working throughout Scandinavia and more recently in the UK. Having run her own architectural practice for 11 years, Linda joined White Arkitekter in 2007 and is now a Partner and the Director of White’s London studio.

Linda's extensive experience as an architect includes urban development, residential and mixed-use properties as well as public buildings and commercial offices. Notable projects in Scandinavia include Stockholm Waterfront, Octapharma Brewery offices, Studios and Offices for UR - part of the Swedish Public Service Broadcasting group.

Current work in the UK includes the White Rock masterplan in Hastings and ‘Climate Innovation District’ in Leeds, as well as a new church and residential development in North London. Linda has also been involved in the research study, “Planning for equity - designing public space for girls”, within White Arkitekter’s ‘White Research Lab’.

The Scandinavian approach to designing homes and neighbourhoods where people can thrive, at the same time as meeting the current challenge of urbanisation, is the focus of her current work. This approach emphasises density, connectivity and the value of high quality public space in providing the starting point for long-term sustainable solutions. Well-defined goals are at the core of Linda’s work, with a particular focus on integrating environmental, economic and social values in her designs.

Linda regularly undertakes teaching and examiner roles with the School of Architecture at the KTH Royal institute of Technology in Stockholm.
