Anthony Summers

Ian Ritchie Architects Ltd.

Anthony Summers is a Projects Director who has been with IRAL since 1986 and has been responsible for projects ranging from £5 – £300 million. As Quality Manager he also has a principal role within the practice to ensure the high quality of professionalism and technical information that the practice delivers. He led the team for our research-office buildings at Stockley Park and Oxford Science Park. On the Westfield London project he successfully managed the complex interface with London Transport assurance and user requirements gaining accreditation with London Underground. As Projects Director for the Isle of Dogs Crossrail Station project he was responsible for the development of the Concept Design through to approval of the Crossrail Hybrid Bill which involved the management of multiple stakeholder requirements and a complex technical brief.

Most recently he led the transformation of the RIBA award-winning RSC’s Courtyard Theatre into The Other Place - the ‘soul’ of new writing and rehearsal at the RSC. The original temporary 1050 seat theatre, contained within a naturally weathering oxidised Corten folded steel sheet envelope, has been converted into a vibrant series of multi-purpose performance and rehearsal spaces and acts as a focal point for RSC staff, visiting artists and the public.

He is a former tutor at the Architecture Association and Cambridge University and an RIBA External Examiner.
