Andrew Waugh

Waugh Thistleton Architects

Andrew is co-founder of Waugh Thistleton Architects, a Hackney-based practice that designs buildings from cross-laminated timber (CLT), a material and emerging technique, which is sustainable for the long term, quick and quiet to build, and healthy to live in. Waugh Thistleton Architects is a world leader in this practice. Andrew lectures internationally and has recently been involved in the curation of Timber City, an exhibition at the National Building Museum in Washington.

Andrew’s understanding of both the built environment and property development allows him an insight into the mechanisms behind building procurement for both public and private sectors. In addition to lecturing on CLT, Andrew has acted as Vice-Chair of Hackney's Design Review Panel, judge for the U.S. Tall Wood Building Competition, and as an external examiner at East London University School of Architecture.
