Andrew had a distinguished student career at the Bartlett, UCL, including the award of the Sir Andrew Taylor prize, before going to MacCormac Jamieson Prichard where he worked on the Fitzwilliam College Chapel and new accommodation for Trinity College, Cambridge.

Andrew established Patel Taylor with Pankaj Patel in 1989. They quickly gained attention with competition wins for a masterplan for the Antwerp Docks and the French city of Chateauroux, and an RIBA award for the conversion of a stone barn in North Wales into an arts centre and gallery in 1992.

In 1994 Andrew was in charge of competition winning Ayr Citadel masterplan, which took the practice into a new league and secured private funding after a twenty five year hiatus

Recent projects include a new Library wing and Student Centre for the University of Essex; Courtyard Housing, in Barking; the Athletes’ Village in Stratford and Eastside City Park in Birmingham, which was recognised with multiple awards including RIBA, Civic Trust and the British Construction Industry Award for Regeneration.

He is currently in charge of the masterplan for London Dock, the former News International site in Wapping, East London; Southbank Place, a mixed-use redevelopment on London’s Southbank and St George’s concert hall in Bristol.

His ability has been recognised by prestigious academic and public appointments, including a visiting professorship at the Welsh School of Architecture, and has lectured in Japan, Spain, France, Holland and Ireland. He is a member of Cabe Design Review’s Built Environment Experts Panel, the Newham Design Review Panel, and an assessor for the RIBA and Civic Trust awards.
